Over the next few years, I purchased more and more domains, especially after finding GoDaddy.com; This registrar was much cheaper than Network Solutions, and the domains could be maintained through an online screen instead of an incredibly awkward email interface. It was heaven! Believe it or not, the world of domain name collecting got even better as the years went by: new top level domains (.INFO, .NAME and .BIZ) were introduced, prices went down and control became easier.

Then I began running my own DNS server and learned how to fully take control of my domain names. Now I could create, at will, subdomains, mail servers and anything else I wanted without having to pay extra or beg someone else to do it.

Believe it or not, the life of this domain name collector got even better! I discovered foreign domain names! Suddenly I realized I could get a domain name based out of Tonga or Russia or anywhere else I wanted. Wow. The world was truly at my fingertips.

One day my wife realized that we owned over 200 domain names. She was very amused, and casually told me I was a "domain name whore". I thought it was a cute title and decided to create a ring for those who collect domain names. That's what this ring is all about.
